Grand Central Art Center Residency

In late March, 2019, we began an ongoing, periodic residency relationship with Grand Central Art Center in Santa Ana, California. The Artist-in-Residence program, under the direction of John Spiak, invites socially engaged artists to Southern California to explore the region and develop works that grow from their interests and processes.

Our first visit, in 2019, gave us a chance to visit sites around the community, meet people involved in the area’s arts, cultural, and political scenes, and begin digging into archives. We built upon that visit in January 2020, in our last trip anywhere before the pandemic. On this visit, we continued our archive and interview work.

GCAC was a recent recipient of a significant grant from the Warhol Foundation for the residency program, which will help realize the project in the near future.
