Cultivation Cycles in a Metropolitan Area

One aspect of our practice includes the creation of visual poems that deploy textual intervention, interpretation, and extrapolation on found texts and graphics.

“Cultivation Cycles in a Metropolitan Area” is based on a diagram found in a commissioned study on urban development in 20th Century Chicago describing “The Influence of Housing in the Structure of a Metropolitan Area.”

Attracted to the original document’s utter illegibility as an infographic, we retained elements of the visual while re-imagining the textual element as a relationship between urban development and fruit production standing in as dynamics of the cultivation cycle.
